Backup, Restore, Import or Export Saved Passwords in Firefox
The easiest way to maintain accounts, usernames and passwords in different websites and programs is by saving your passwords in your Firefox browser. This way, you can just go to a specific website’s login page and Firefox will automatically fill the username and password fields.
…
But what if you need to format your PC, reinstall your Firefox browser or you just decided to upgrade your laptop to a better one? Will you have to manually transfer hundreds of usernames and passwords to your newly installed Firefox? I recently experienced a similar situation when I had to use a start using a desktop computer for web designing while my account details for several site are saved in my laptop.
Good thing I learned about the Password Exporter 1.2 Firefox Add-on. In a few simple steps, you can export and import all your usernames and passwords in your Firefox browser…
Install the Add-on then open your firefox options menu. Under the security tab, click the Import/Export Passwords button. After that, click the Export Passwords button then choose the location where you want to save the file in your computer. You can save the file in either XML (Extended Markup Language) or CSV (Comma Separated Values) format.

You will also need to install the same add-on to your Firefox in your new computer if you want to import or transfer your account details to your new Firefox browser. Do the same steps as exporting your passwords only this time, click the Import Passwords button as your last step and open your saved file earlier.
That’s it! I think it only took me around 5 minutes to export then import my passwords from my laptop to my desktop.
