I recently learned that many Google Adsense publishers experience a significant increase in their earnings after they have published a Privacy Policy for their website or blog. Global Recession Affects Blogging and Making Money Online

For more than a year, I’ve been decently making money online and my earnings have been increasing at a good rate. I have been really confident that earning through the internet has been and will continuously be stable for me. When the United States government announced a global recession in late 2008, I just smiled and told myself that there’s nothing to worry about because internet has nothing to do with any financial institution.

However, I was definitely wrong! A few weeks after that, I immediately felt the decrease in the demand for my services and earnings. Then I kept on thinking, why would the global recession affect the internet industry?

Well, here’s my simple thought about how the global recession might be affecting the making money online. In a global recession there is a drop in demand or less spending by consumers. This means that the volume of sales of companies will drop and thus decrease their profits. In order to continue earning income, prevent loss or worst, bankruptcy, companies and service providers will implement cost cutting measures. Some of these are laying off jobs, lowering production and trimming down other expenses like marketing and advertising. Internet marketing includes buying and exchanging links, creating buzz using different mediums (which includes blogs) and advertising in other high traffic websites. Cutting costs in advertising causes less money to buy links, pay for article writers, less data entry employees and other common services outsourced through the internet.

The sad truth about global recession is that all industries are affected. The only difference is that some are hit harder than the others. Despite the decrease in the demand for my services in the past weeks, I’m still thankful that I’m not one of those employees who were laid off by their companies and are left jobless. Though my earnings are no longer as good as they used to be, the global recession has taught me to spend my money wisely because no one knows when my earnings will just drop.

For now, I have to keep myself busy, work extra hard and actively look for clients who might be interested in my services. According to the news, current global recession will last around 18 months and until it’s over, we all need to keep our belts buckled tight.

September 2008 Income – Highest Earnings Ever

With my earnings almost reaching the five digit mark, September was indeed a great month for me. However, I have to expect the worst for the coming months because the result of the September pagerank update, the second PR update in the third quarter of this year, was not good for me. I will need to exert extra efforts in building the links of my blogs to increase their pagerank for the next PR update. Anyway, despite of the negative results the last update September was a good month for me in general.

Almost every stat of this blogging tutorials blog has increased in a month. My Alexa rank broke the top 1,000,000 two weeks ago and it is currently on 824,654 with 152 inlinks. There was also a slight increase in my Technorati rank from 30,951 to 29,120 and increase in Technorati authority from 165 to 168. Here are my blog’s stats from the 3 major search engines in the internet:

I managed to publish a total of 9 posts for the month of September 2008. This explains the increase in my indexed pages in Google and Yahoo. I don’t know what happened to MSN though. My feed readers and email subscribers count has now increased to 138. The increase in my subscribers is credited to the quality and usefulness of the posts that I have published.

We are now in the fourth and final quarter of this year. Though it is almost impossible to retain my earnings from the previous month, I hope I can still manage to earn anywhere near it.

Life and Adventure from Making Money Online

Everyday, more and more people are becoming interested in making money online. Though the growth of internet’s popularity has been slow in growth in the Philippines, the number of Filipinos getting into online businesses is steadily increasing. I have been in the internet industry for more that 3 years and have been an internet freelancer for more than a year now. So far, making money online allows me to earn enough money to live a comfortable life. Here’s what blogging and other internet money making programs has given me so far:

Blogging saved a life twice. My mom was diagnosed with an ovary problem in December of last year and she had to undergo a minor operation. The result of the biopsy from this operation was not good and she had to undergo total abdominal hysterectomy by early this year. If not for blogging, we wouldn’t have enough money to pay for my mom’s operations.

My First Car (Nissan Sentra):

Six months after quitting my job from an internet company in the Philippines, I also managed to buy my very first car. It was a Nissan Sentra ’97 model Super Saloon. Six more months later, I sold this car to Jeff for his second car and bought a Mitsubishi Adventure 2002 model (the toy for big boys as I call it) for an upgrade. I just bought my Adventure the other day and this is what inspired me to make this post.

Currently, I am also making installment payments for a parcel of land in Tarlac. 3 more years and this land is going to be fully paid and officially become a property under my name.

The internet is a huge virtual world where you can earn real money. If you put your heart and best efforts in finding jobs and programs in the internet that really pay, you will definitely make good amount of money. Though this post is inspired by the recent purchase of my Mitsubishi Adventure, my purpose is not to brag about what I got but instead, to inspire and motivate people, especially my fellow Filipinos, to try their luck and venture the opportunities that the internet offers.

Nuffnang Philippines for Filipino Bloggers

After making my post about my blog’s new wordpress theme yesterday, my new post got a few comments and one of these comments is posted by Jehzeel Laurente. Wanting to return the favor to him for taking time to visit my blog and commenting on my post, I visited his site and searched for a post of his to comment on. Scanning through his blog, his post about a program called NuffNang caught my attention. I read the blogpost, followed the link to Nuff Nang, read about the program and signed up with them.

Nuffnang is the first blog advertising program in Asia which was started in Malaysia by Timothy Tiah and Cheo Ming Shen in February of 2007. After the program’s success in Malaysia and Singapore, Nuffnang finally reached the Philippines last month (August 2008). More than just a blog advertising program that offers opportunities to make money online through blogs, Nuffnang Philippines is a place where we can show that the Filipinos have their place in the blogosphere.

What do I expect with Nuffnang?

This blogging tutorials blog is not really intended to make me tons of dollars and as much as possible, I don’t intend to publish sponsored posts in it. When I joined Nuffnang, my primary purpose was to get to know other Pinoy bloggers and be known to them as well. When I visited the official Nuffnang Philippines website, I noticed that they let the world know who their bloggers are. Well, I certainly want to be included in their list.

Every month, Nuffnang also features bloggers in their site. Of course, I’m also hoping that my name will appear inside this featured box in the near future.

So far, that’s all I have to say about Nuffnang Philippines. I will keep you updated with my thoughts and actual experiences about it.

Stats Summary Report for August 2008

August is considered as a lucky month for most people because it is the eighth month of the year. However, I can say that August is neither a lucky nor a bad month for me. Almost all aspects of my weblog’s statistics have increased by the end of August which was a good thing. I still managed to earn a gross income of $100 per day despite of experiencing a 16% drop in earnings. My earnings have been dropping for the last 2 months and it makes me wonder sometimes if making money through blogging is slowly becoming a history. But then again, as long as I maintain an average of $100 per day, my earnings are not that bad and blogging is still a good way to make a comfortable living.

To start off with my statistics, my Alexa rank increased from 1,449,608 to 1,223,093. The increase in my Alexa rank is not really impressive but I haven’t really done any extensive promotion for my blog so there’s not much to expect. My Technorati rank also had a slight increase from 33,762 to 30,951 in rank and 159 to 165 in Technorati authority. Here are the statistics from the top 3 major search engines:

The feed readers of my blog increased from 94 to 132. The increase in my blog’s feed readers is a sign that more people are becoming interested in my posts. I’ve only managed to publish 6 posts in the month of August but all are of high quality. This is a proof that quality is still more important than quantity. Make useful and interesting articles rather a bunch of useless posts and attract more readers.

Last month, I established some plans on how to increase my blog’s statistics and I’m happy to say that I’ve successfully executed the plans. This is most likely the reason for the increase in Alexa and Technorati ranks, backlinks, indexed pages, and feed readers of my blog. I will continue doing them and see how it goes in the long run. I just hope I can find more time to promote and increase the popularity of my blog.

After a few days of celebrating my special day, I finally got the time to blog about the July 2008 stats of this blog. This is important for me and also for other bloggers to track and analyze the statistics of their blogs to see any room for possible improvement. Determine the weak spots of your blog and formulate a plan on how to increase or improve them. To start off, here are the stats of my blog on the 3 major search engines:

There was no change for my blog’s pagerank after the third quarter pagerank update; my blogs PR remains at 3/10. This blog slightly increased its Alexa Rank as it climbed up from 1,500,000+ to 1,449,608. My current technorati rank has also increased to 33,762 with 159 Authority. Reaching a technorati rank of above 50,000 is a good stat for my blog. A thing that has improved a lot for my blogs is its feed readers. As of today, my feed readers count is already 94. This is gained through constantly promoting my weblog in social bookmarking sites and submitting my feeds to feed directories.

Overall, there are no huge changes for this blog last month but I’m looking to improve my stats this month. Here are my plans for the month of August 2008 to improve the stats for my blog:

Build more backlinks through directory submissions and link exchanges to increase traffic or visitors and Alexa Rank.
Publish more quality blogposts or content to increase the number of indexed pages.
Promote my sites to social bookmarking sites to increase feed readers.
Comment on “dofollow” blogs to further increase my backlinks and technorati rank.

As for my income, last month wasn’t the best month for me but I still managed to keep my earnings above $100 per day. My earnings is only consist of paid blogpost reviews, contextual link and blogroll links on my blogs. Improving the statististics of my blog is yet another challenge for me. I will be working on increasing my blog’s statictics and let’s see what will happen to my report for next month.

The Next Plan – Setting Up Your First Website

So you’ve tried every possible freelance job in the internet and you are finally starting to earn some money from them. Some people are lucky enough to find regular freelance jobs and earn a consistently good amount with them. However, this is the situation for most people because they usually work hard for little money. For people looking to take their internet home based business to the next level, setting up your own website is next move to do.

You might think that you need to have programming skills for you to set up your own website but you don’t. There are types of websites that you can easily set up even though you are not a computer buff or even if you don’t have programming skills. Good examples for this are Link Directories and Weblogs which you can easily in a few minutes using free downloadable scripts. The internet is a huge resource of everything you will need in setting up your own website.

There are a few things that you need to do and learn before you can set up your website. These are choosing a good domain name, deciding on what type of website to put up and deciding on what niche or topic to target. I highly recommend setting up Weblogs because they are the easiest to set up and they are highly profitable. This is the primary reason why my blog is all about blogging and making money online.

Link Building is another job that I’ve done for some time. I got paid to submit websites to directories, leave comments on blogposts and submit websites to social bookmarking sites.
