Third Quarter Pagerank Update - What is PR?
The visible PR (Pagerank) which can be found in the Google toolbar officially updated today. This is an exciting day for all webmasters and blog owners because all are hoping to increase the PR of their websites and weblogs. But what really is Pagerank and what is there to be excited about the PR update? Since another Pagerank update occurred today, I thought that this is the best time to talk about what Pagerank really is and how valuable it is for webmaster and bloggers or blog owners like us.
What is Pagerank and its uses?
Google is a titan internet company that is primarily a search engine. Majority of internet users are using Google as their search engine in looking for any information that they need. This is why webmasters and search engine marketers have a huge concern about gaining high rankings for their targeted keywords. In short, higher Google rankings means more traffic, exposure and most importantly, money.
Google uses different calculations to be able to return the most relevant search results for queries and the PageRank algorithm or technology plays a huge part on these calculations. PageRank is simply the importance of a webpage on the internet that is scaled from zero to ten (0-10).
There are two main reasons why website owners, webmasters and bloggers want their websites to have high pageranks:
- To achieve organic Google rankings and rank high on targeted keywords.
- To earn money by selling sponsored or paid links on their high PR web pages to website owners looking to achieve organic Google rankings. People will pay more for links on pages with higher PR.
What is my websites’ or blogs’ PR?
You can check the Pagerank of your blogs or website by installing a Google toolbar and enabling the PageRank. Another way is by using PR checking tool such as SEO Logs PR Checker, Check PageRank, Dig Page Rank and Blog Flux PR checker.
How can I increase the Page Rank of my websites?
The concept of PageRank revolves around links and it can be obtained, increased and passed through linking. If you want to increase the PR of your website, you should obtain links with various PR for your website. However, do not ignore PR0 links as all links count in increasing your Pagerank. If you are also looking to optimize your website, you should use your targeted keywords as the anchor texts for links pointing to your website. Build your backlinks! This sounds easy but it will require a lot of your time and effort.
This blogging tutorials blog currently retained its pagerank to PR3 during the recent update. The visible PR updates approximately every 90 days so we have lots of time to build our blogs’ links and increase their PR in the next update.
